What Is Our Mobile DPF Cleaning Service?

A Deep Dive Into How FlexFuel Carbon X3 Restores Your DPF – Without Removal

At CarbonTech, we specialise in DPF cleaning using the FlexFuel Carbon X3 system – a powerful, chemical-based solution that clears blocked filters without removing them. This mobile service is ideal for diesel vehicles suffering from DPF warning lights, limp mode, or failed regenerations.

Let’s break down how it works – from expert diagnostics to deep chemical flush.

Step 1: Diagnosis – More Than Just Plugging In a Scan Tool

Before jumping into cleaning, we start with a proper on-site diagnostic to assess the condition of your DPF system.

Here’s what we look at:

  • DPF soot loading (g/L) and differential pressure (kPa)
  • Engine temperature and sensor readings
  • Fault codes related to EGR, intake, DPF, and turbo
  • Engine oil condition (often linked to DPF regeneration problems)

We check if your car attempted or completed an active regeneration, and whether there are underlying issues preventing it from doing so — such as short trips, faulty sensors, or intake restrictions.

If you’re wondering what DPF regeneration is and why it sometimes fails, we’ve written a full article on that topic here:

Step 2: Stage 1 Chemical – Soak & Soften the Soot

Once diagnostics confirm that your DPF is clogged beyond what regeneration can handle, we begin the chemical cleaning process using Stage 1 chemicals.

This 1-litre cleaning solution is injected directly into the DPF, and the method of injection depends on the vehicle’s design. We may inject through:

  • The DPF pressure sensor hose
  • A temperature sensor port
  • Or the O2 sensor port, depending on access

What makes Carbon X3 unique is its adaptive injection modes. Based on how severely the DPF is clogged, the machine can inject Stage 1 in intervals, allowing the chemical to:

  • Stay in contact with soot longer
  • Soak deeper into the filter’s channels
  • Break down stubborn carbon buildup more effectively

During this process, the engine is kept idling, which ensures the chemical circulates through the exhaust system without triggering high heat or regen cycles.

We typically let the vehicle idle for about 3 minutes after 1L stage 1 injection is finished, while the chemical works to soften the soot and prep it for flushing in Stage 2.

Step 3: Stage 2 Chemical – High-RPM Flush

Next, we inject 2 litres of Stage 2 flushing solution while running the engine at high RPM.

This final step:

  • Flushes out the broken-down soot
  • Clears the DPF pathways with exhaust flow
  • Restores optimal pressure readings

In most cases, you’ll visibly see soot and steam expelled from the tailpipe, especially if the filter was heavily clogged.

Step 4: Post-Clean Validation

After the chemical flush, we:

  • Recheck DPF pressure and soot values
  • Confirm airflow is back to normal
  • Clear any DPF or regeneration-related fault codes
  • Reset oil dilution data if needed

You’ll receive a diagnostic report showing before and after results, so you can see exactly how effective the clean was.

Why Our Method Works (When Regen Fails)

FlexFuel Carbon X3 is different from a standard regen. While regeneration relies on high exhaust temperatures to burn off soot, it:

  • Often fails during short trips
  • Can’t handle ash or thick carbon buildup
  • Requires all sensors and conditions to be perfect

Our method doesn’t rely on ECU logic or passive heat. It’s a manual, chemical-based solution that targets soot directly – and works even when the vehicle can’t regenerate on its own.
