What Is Our Intake Manifold Cleaning Service?

🔧 What Is Our Intake Manifold Cleaning Service?

Modern diesel and direct injection engines are powerful and efficient—but they come with a hidden problem: carbon buildup inside the intake manifold.

At CarbonTech, we offer a mobile intake manifold cleaning service using the FlexFuel Carbon X3 chemical system. It’s fast, non-invasive, and helps your engine breathe like new—without removing any components.

Our service targets the intake side only, including the:

  • Intake Manifold

  • Throttle body

  • Intake runners

  • Intake valves

🧠 Why Carbon Builds Up Inside the Intake

EGR – Dirty Exhaust Recycled
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system sends exhaust gases back into the intake to lower emissions. But that same gas carries soot, which sticks to intake walls—especially when combined with oil vapour.

PCV – Oily Vapours from Inside the Engine
The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system brings oil vapour into the intake. This vapour coats the intake walls and glues soot in place, forming thick sludge over time.

Direct Injection – No Fuel to Wash It Away
In direct injection engines, fuel goes straight into the cylinder. That means nothing ever touches or cleans the intake valves—making carbon buildup worse and faster than in older port-injection systems.

🚫 What Happens If Airflow Is Restricted?

When the intake is full of carbon and airflow is restricted, the engine can’t breathe properly—and that leads to multiple issues:

  • Poor combustion due to imbalanced air-fuel ratio

  • Rough idle, hesitation, or lack of throttle response

  • Increased smoke and emissions

  • Higher soot output, which can cause DPF blockages

  • Reduced fuel efficiency

  • In worst cases, it can trigger fault codes and limp mode

A restricted intake puts strain on your turbo, EGR, and DPF systems—costing you more in long-term repairs.

🔍 Step 1: Full Diagnosis + Leak Check

We start with a complete pre-cleaning inspection:

  • OBD scan for fault codes

  • Live airflow and boost sensor data

  • Smoke leak test to find hidden intake leaks

💨 Step 2: Chemical Injection (Safe, Smart, & Mobile)

We inject the cleaning chemical directly through the throttle body while the engine runs at high idle.

To prevent choking or hydro-locking, our machine uses a precise interval method:

  • 2 seconds of chemical injection

  • Followed by 20 seconds of wait time

  • This gives carbon time to soften and burn off gradually without flooding the combustion chamber

  • The whole process, including diagnostics and post-cleaning checks, takes approximately two hours.

✅ Results You’ll Notice
  • Faster throttle response

  • More torque and smoother idle

  • Less smoke from the exhaust

  • Better fuel efficiency

  • No engine disassembly needed

🛻 We Come to You

From driveway jobs to busy workshops, we offer a fully mobile solution across Melbourne. Trade pricing available for regular workshop bookings.

🧼 Prevent It Before It Becomes a Problem

If you drive a diesel vehicle with a DPF, or a petrol car with direct injection, we recommend your first intake clean at around 80,000 km.

Don’t wait for fault codes to show up—because by then, the damage is often already mechanical.
Carbon buildup can jam intake actuators or damage swirl flaps. Once that happens, cleaning won’t fix it—replacement parts are the only option.

Regular intake cleaning is a smart investment in your engine’s health and long-term reliability.
